COVID updates (including more information to come on Vaccine passports (liability to small businesses, enforcement strategy, rapid testing kits, hand sanitizer and masks still available)

Summer flowers scheduled to be removed by the City by early October
Banner swaps - from summer to winter - scheduled for early November
*proposed to build new banner costs into the 2022 budget (both summer and winter banners)
New aboriginal mural under way at 576 Concession
New historical mural at 612 Concession (current mural there to be moved to 588 Concession)
Beautiful Alleys Fall Clean Up happening this Sat Sept 18th (9am to 1pm - meet in the parking lot of 555 Concession)
Winter inserts being organized (hanging vs sidewalk) - hanging not recommended for safety concerns in commercial applications (get too heavy as they freeze, heavy strong winter winds on Concession. we will proceed with sidewalk inserts (procurement policy to be followe) with the biggest (colours seasonally neutral) inserts, typically installed after Remembrance Day or as soon as they are ready

Update provided on pedestrian accident in June 2021
Drainage project to start addressing the flooding of parking lot at 555 Concession when it rains
1-2 new lights to be installed on the west side of 555 Concession currently underway
New alley light being installed in alleyway behind 576 Concession
Fall Safety Audit tentatively booked for Monday Oct 18th, 2021 (at dark): Jim, Cristina and Julie Noble to complete (anyone else interested is welcome to participate)

Mountain Brow Pedestrianization plan - MOTION for Board support ALL IN FAVOUR
City Council has approved a match of the 2020 Shared Parking Revenue fund awarded to our BIA (the COVID lockdowns massively impacted the collected revenue - very appreciative for this motion approval proposed by the BIAAC)!
Pedestrian crosswalk installation at 798 Concession (Big Bee Plaza) tentative end of Q3 2021
Penny Pinchers 5K Charity walk for JHCCF on Sept 23rd (MOTION for BIA donation - approved $100 donation ALL IN FAVOUR)

- Hamilton Day (month of Nov culminating on Saturday Nov 20th, 2021) - $2000 Grant for Concession BIA to be used to purchase gift certificates/Concession Bucks so the money goes directly back to the small businesses for this "Celebration of all things local"
- BIA billboard refresh - more sharp images to promote holiday shopping options on Concession (Oct/Nov)

- The Parlour opening soon at 581 Concession (corner until by Hamilton Ave)
- New massage therapist moving into the 2nd floor of 555 Concession (opening soon)
- Dark Angel Boxing Studio closed their doors at 48 Summit (wishing Kylie continued success)
