BIA website is no longer listing open businesses -but rather has been replaced with a statement: Through the COVID-19 crisis,
please contact your favourite business directly for any modified hours and service protocols.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. When Hamilton enters Phase 2 we will have the majority of our businesses open in some capacity (approximately 80% of our BIA members). The remaining closed businesses will have to wait until further restrictions are lifted by the province.
BIA Awards of Excellence: virtual event. Congratulations again to Heal Café (Sparkle Award) and Mahasti Bellydance Emporium (Community Award). Further recognitions coming later in the year from the City of Hamilton.
Parking on Concession – enforcement back in place, 30 minute grace for curbside pickup in place under further notice. The Hamilton parking app will be launched on July 6th. Meters will remain the same (just added signage advising that payment can also be made by cell phone app). Those without data on their phones will still be able to pay with coins. Meter rates will be increased at this time by $0.50/hour as earlier approved by City Council.
Stoneroads Mural – completed and looks fantastic. Nothing but positive feedback on this façade renovation and transformation.
New businesses:
Capelli Hair Salon – 516 Concession
Roca Beauty Bar – 546 Concession
Made You Look Optical – 566 Concession
Further updates will be coming on the recent announced of $57 million added to the Main Street Grant program (nationally). Most exciting part of this announcement is that the $2500 grant will be relaunched on July 1st, 2020. Even if a business was a recipient of the first wave of grants, they would be eligible to reapply for another $2500. Training component has been reduced to 2.5 hours – from the original 8 hour prerequisite to be able to apply for the grant. More information to follow shortly from the Concession BIA office.
