Board Business:
More reported cases of used needles in our alleyways.  Crime Manager Sgt Knapp has been advised and we have requested additional police patrols of our area.  If anyone finds needles advise the BIA office if you are uncomfortable disposing of them and a call will be logged with the City Health Dept. for a clean up (typically takes 1-2 business days, depending on staff availability).  Awareness posters – as well as window decals – for Crime Stoppers available in the BIA office for any BIA members.

Treasurer Report – Alana Travis - n/a

Chair of the Beautification Committee – Deb Kitchen
Christmas decorations:  strategy to purchase seasonal winter banners for Concession Street.  We are unable to add any lights to our Horizon Utility poles (that currently have our new coach lanterns) as this may void the warranty on our lanterns.  To add colour to our street, seasonal winter banners will be designed and installed when the summer banners come down in mid November. To save on installation costs, the summer banners will come down and the winter banners will go up.  The winter banners are a heavy vinyl that will stand up to winter weather conditions.  These will remain up until the summer banners are ready to go back up in April 2019.
A tender bid will go out for the supplier of these banners.  We are also requesting design images for these banners for early July.  Our next Board meeting will vote on the preferred design(s).  Once chosen, they will be ordered so they are ready for installation in November 2018 (right after Remembrance Day).
More to come on these new banners.

Chair of the Concession Marketing Committee – Jason Hofing
Radio Ad on The Grand (audio available)

Chair of Concession Events Committee – Jules Gauthier

               Streetfest: Saturday June 9th
By all accounts a great success.  Attendance estimated at 50,000.  A wrap up meeting will be held tonight to discuss successes and opportunities for improvement for 2019.  Feedback from Board members in attendance: great vendors, great vendor layout, great kids activities, overall an awesome day.  Opportunities include more food options – particularly later in the day.  Consider a beer tent/garden for future Streetfest.  Consider either starting the festival later if we want to keep it until 8pm OR go back to 7pm event wrap up (end of day appeared to drag a bit).  All feedback will be taken to the Streetfest Committee for future consideration.
               Sidewalk Sounds:  Friday June 15th
6 music performers confirmed –including Hamilton Sings Community Choir (who performed for free for us)..  Chalk artist to work on a piece in the parking lot of 574 Concession (will wash away with the next rainfall).  Hamilton Bellydance performed in the parking lot of 555 Concession which has proven to be a fabulous draw and crowd pleaser. KLITE will bring their cruiser. Y108 will bring their cruiser. All businesses encouraged to stay open, participate or at least ramp up their window displays to promote their business to the visitors that evening.
Attendance not the strongest for this date however coming off of Streetfest the June date has proven to have a softer attendance (Concession festivaled with this event happening immediately after Streetfest.  Consider having Sidewalk Sounds open Streetfest 2019. Move the date so it acts like an opening act for Streetfest idea to be considered.

Chair of Safety Committee – TBC
Anti-graffiti/beautification initiative:  Mural on corner property walls, phased project, to select first 3/4 walls for 2018
555 Concession mural has been installed:  East Incline Railway generously donated in full by Hamilton Mountain Heritage Society.  Next to come:  East Uptown Yoga 489 Concession, The Zoetic 526 Concession, Opies at 612 Concession and Papa Leo’s 638 Concession.
For consideration for next year:  Public Library, Concession Pizza 576 Concession and Speedy Subs 562 interest in this project) will be considered for 2019 PHASE 2.

Executive Director Updates – Cristina Geissler
Pop Up Patios – BIA will be lending the library an umbrella for this patio to be used throughout the summer.
The BIA has 8 other umbrellas that are available to be used by any BIA members.
Process, sign out umbrella, sign a waiver that if anything happens to the umbrella while in your possession you will agree to replace it (this includes wind damage, bad weather, loss, theft or any other kind of damage). :
NEW BOARD ELECTIONS 2018:  process to be confirmed with the City for elections, current board will remain in place until the new Hamilton City Council is sworn in (any changes to our Board appointments/elections must be approved at the city level) therefore we should expect the transition to formally happen in December 2018 or January 2019.  Request for anyone interested – or knowing anyone who would be a good fit – for a Treasurer since this role will be open for the next term.  We also need a good candidate for Chair of the Board.

 New businesses:
Monaco Cuts opening soon at 487 Concession, Living Art Ink opening soon at 666 Concession and Mountain Cross Pharmacy under new management at 503 Concession
